Day 304 - Halloween

I can't believe that on Halloween I only took two I-phone photos of my kids. I really had big plans for this day and things didn't work out the way I had planned. I took William to Pumpkintown to the parade but as soon as we got there it started raining really hard. I was trying a new lens and was worried it was going to get damaged so I put the camera away.  At night when we went to Spice Hill trick or treating it was so dark and the kids were with their friends they didn't want their photos taken. William wanted to be a vampire because he had the teeth for it:)...Vanessa was going to be a tootsie roll. Emma's mom ordered tootsie roll costumes for Emma and Vanessa, but when Vanessa tried the costume on it didn't fit and at the very last minute she decided to be a Red Sox player with a beard and all.

Day 303 - Crossfit

I had heard of Crossfit a long time ago and wanted to give it a try, but there wasn't one close to us. But, finally a new crossfit opened up recently in our own town and I along with a bunch of moms signed up right away. It is very challenging and every time I go I feel so out of shape because the exercises are so different from what I have done all my life. A true, but rewarding challenge!

Day 295 - A Leaf

I saw a card or a quote on the web with a leaf that had a heart cut in the middle and I said to myself why didn't I think of this before. I thought it was so clever.  The picture I saw had the leaf on a log. I took one like that and then I took one against the blue sky.

Day 291 - Haddam.... and the Moon

Self Portrait by the Connecticut River, right next to the Goodspeed Opera House and the Haddam Bridge

The Hunter's Moon

This is a sample of the kind of photo I wanted to get of the moon. Blue sky, nice water reflection, beautiful trees, and a more defined moon. But, it wasn't easy. I saw the moon when I ran to the grocery store to grab a few things in a rush. I almost fainted when I saw it. The moon looked huge and yellow and gorgeous! I got back in the car and drove to Sears Park and tried but didn't know which settings to begin with. This is just a photo in either program or auto, because everything else I tried was either too dark or too bright. And I didn't have all the time in the world to try anything. I had to go home and feed my family...Besides I had already taken a lot of photos in Haddam and have many of the moon!

Day 290 - La Luna

I wasn't planning on taking another picture of the moon today. But, as I was driving, I saw it with the sky totally blue. So, I stopped and took the picture right from the car, without a tripod, cable release, etc. I didn't even change the settings and I got this. Well the sky is not blue, but I wanted a photo of the full moon without a black sky. Here it is.

Day 289 - Jessica's Garden

After school William and I went to Pumpkintown and then Jessica's garden. We wanted to check out the "spooky" trail. Here he is pretending to be sooo scared!

Day 286 - A Fire

We hardly ever light a fire to roast marshmallows, but I think we should do it more often. The kids had such a great time.

Day 285 - Hurd Park

Ever since I started this project I have asked my husband many times how come I have lived in this town for so many years and I didn't know this (fill in the blanks) was here? I have discovered waterfalls, tunnels, ponds that didn't even know existed. Hurd park is about 5 minutes from our house. We had been there before, but didn't know there were trails that after a short walk would take us to the Connecticut river.  It was a very cloudy day, but the trees were very colorful.

Day 280 - Me Monday

This is the picture I wanted to post yesterday for Me Monday, but besides being a wet, windy and cold day I was so under the whether that if it wasn't for having to pick up my daughter at school perhaps I would have stayed in my pjs all day. I photographed this waterfall once in the winter when I wasn't doing self portraits. Today I found out I lost my remote and had to go back and forth to press the shutter....The quality of the photo is not great, but I have to post it for the effort....
