Day 212 - A Kitten

 

Today is Vanessa's birthday. We surprised her with this new kitten.  

This cat is a boy and it doesn't have a name yet! 

Day 211 - Blueberry Picking

I was so excited about butterflies yesterday that I forgot all about Me Monday. Today we went blueberry picking and found this tree at the farm. 

Day 210 - Butterflies

 

We have a butterfly bush on our backyard. It was fun trying to get a photo of every kind I saw there today. The white one was the hardest to photograph. They don't stay in one place for long, thus it is not as sharp. I couldn't pick one picture so I posted them all.

Day 209 - A Plane

We went back to Westbrook today and while sitting on the beach we saw this plane. We think it is an amphibious plane.

Day 207 - Sunset

To watch the sunset we needed to walk a short distance to the marina since we didn't get a great view from the house. I was finally able to get at least one photo of the sunset on the last night of our vacation in Westbrook.

Day 206 - A rainy day

This is the day the temperature dropped to 55 degrees and rained all day. Crazy weather. It went from 100 degrees last week to temperatures in the 50s today.  We were not ready to wear jackets, but had to. Obviously it wasn't a beach day, so we went to an art studio in town and the kids did some paintings.  Most pictures today were in my iphone.

Day 205 - Kayaking

Where is William?

 

In this picture my family is asking me to go kayaking with them to an island no far from the shore.  I said no way. I am a scaredy cat when it comes to anything that involves water. Somehow they convinced me and off we went the four of us in this tiny thing. And it wasn't close at all. It took us about 1 hour to get there and oh boy did we get a great arm workout? The one thing I regret is not having a camera with us. The island is some kind of refuge for birds and there are pretty flowers, shells and stones. 

Day 204 - A Storm and a Rainbow

 

I couldn't get over the sky while staying in Westbrook. Everyday it changed so much. And on this particular day it was amazing how it changed from a perfectly blue sky to complete darkness. The first two pictures are unedited. The clouds kept rolling until the sky was totally black and then after the pouring rain we got to see the most beautiful rainbow. I only wished I had a super wide angle lens to capture it all. It was a perfect arch but I could only get half of it. Bummer in the summer!

Day 200 - Movie Night

Our friends Peter and Eileen asked us if we could stay at their beach house in Westbrook for ONE WEEK while they stay at their Newport, Rhode Island house.  We couldn't refuse. The first night we stayed there, it was movie night, right by the water. My son, who is a movie/TV/video game junkie, grabbed a chair and decided he was going to watch Wreck-it-Ralph. So, that's what we did. It was fun!

Day 199 - Another Summer Concert

I had not taken a picture today, so I took a picture this evening at the gazebo concert in our town.  I took it from far away. I didn't realize until I put the pictures in the computer there wasn't a very nice background.....

Day 198 - Beatles Forever

 

We are big Beatles fans. Last year we discovered this amazing tribute band and now we follow them wherever they play.  They sound really good and we always have such a great time.

These white and grey birds were around our feeder all day today. The composition and quality of this photo is not good but it was such a busy day with the kids that this had to be it.

Day 189 - Haddam, CT

Every Monday evening in the summer we go to the concerts in Haddam. The concerts take place right next to the river and this area is definitely Haddam's landmark with the Goodspeed Opera House and the draw bridge right next to it.  I waited patiently for the bridge to open to get a picture, but it didn't happen this time. There weren't boats big enough to cross it.  But, I was lucky to see the sunset over the bridge.

Day 188 - Westbrook, CT

 

We spent a lazy day at the beach today. For the most part I read, didn't go in the water much and  even took a nap.  I was lazy with my camera too. I didn't even want to go to the car and get my zoom lens. But, managed to take a few pictures and as we were leaving I took a picture of the sunset.
